Location: Memphis Veterinary Specialists (MVS), Memphis, TN

Technicians need to know how to perform the proper periodontal scaling and polishing. Dental probing and charting must be done for each patient and the tech needs to know what is normal and abnormal in the mouth. Also, performing efficient dental radiographs (within 10 minutes) is essential. Otherwise, the patient is being anesthetized longer than necessary.

Morning Lecture:

  • Equipmentology   ‘There’s a lot of dental equipment out there you need to know about!’
  • Dental anatomy
  • Abnormal dental pathology that a tech should know
  • Proper dental charting
  • How to talk to clients about dental disease…that gets them in for a procedure

Afternoon Lab:

  • How to take the perfect dental radiograph in the dog and cat
  • How to sharpen hand instruments

Meeting includes the following:

  • Meeting notes
  • Radiographic positioning guide (a $48.00 value)
  • Lunch and snacks
