Technicians need to know how to perform the proper periodontal scaling and polishing. Dental probing and charting must be done for each patient and the tech needs to know what is normal and abnormal in the mouth. Also, performing efficient dental radiographs (within 10 minutes) is essential. Otherwise, the patient is being anesthetized longer than necessary.
